    William Bradford: Believer or Zealot?
    Was William Bradford overzealous in his actions? When William Bradford was young, he joined a noncomformist group in his native England which , at the time, was not allowed to meet publicly. Finally, after many years, they decided tomove to the new American Colonies in New England. This tells us, like many other instances of religious persecution, that the group he was in only sought to get away from all their problems. This doesn't make him a zealot. On the contrary, it makes him a wise man.

    From a free partisan to a captured servant, Mary Rowlandson was put through trials unimaginable today. Although initially resentful at the Natives who took her, the narrative goes on to suggest that she accepted or even possibly enjoyed her fate, as she would invite her captors to eat.
