    In 1769 Captain Cook's surgeon boy sites the coast of New Zealand. Soon after colonisation starts and trading with the Maori tribes begin. Soon after would people come from Europe to New Zealand to see the wonders that the new land had to offer.
  • The Fox Glacier

     The Fox Glacier
    The Fox Glacier was named in 1872 by that times Prime Minister: Sir William Fox after he visited the glacier. Located in the South Island, Fox Glacier falls 2,600m from the Southern Alps,ending in dense native bush at 300m above sea-level. The Fox Glacier is 13 km long and is one of longest glaciers in Westland Tai Poutini National Park.

    In the late 1800’s there were two main reasons tourists were first attracted to New Zealand.
    The first was to benefit from the thermal mineral waters and the second was to go fishing in
    the fresh water lakes and rivers, such as Taupo, Turangi and Rotorua.

    Skiing on Mt Ruapehu
    In the early 1900s, the first ski huts appeared on Mt Ruapehu. After the Second World War, in 1948 the Ruapehu Ski Club only had high level huts. But in 1949 the tourist level soared by 1000 tourists. The following year, other skiing, tramping and climbing clubs started to build their huts on the mountain. At their peak of the time two huts were built every year, in the 1950s.

    Black Water Rafting
    The Legendary Black Water Rafting Company started in 1987 and, since then they have guided more than a million tourists through the cave. They also have two tours through caves, called the Black Labirinth and The Black Abyss. The caves are over 80 Km long and offers a long ride. All of the tours take three hours.
  • Warbirds over Wanaka

    Warbirds over Wanaka
    In 1988, man called Sir Tim Wallace started an airshow and country fair that sttracted 14000 Wanaka Airport, on the one day alone. Over the years more and more people came to see this airshow. Also more and more vintage aeroplane collectors, and antiquie collectors came to display their collection at this fair. 2008 's airshow was the first airshow under the Warbirds over Wanaka Comunity Trust. It featured displays from the Royal New Zealand Air Force and from the Royal Australian Air Force.

    ZORB
    ZORB was origanlly called Globe-riding. It was based with the Tourism Hub in Rotorua. ZORB is always updating their designs to make the ride more exciting. The newest location of ZORB is in the Smokey Moutains in the US of A, and is the only place in the US of A that has ZORB.
  • Sky Tower

    Sky Tower
    The Sky Tower is 328 metres high and is New Zealands tallest stucture. The Sky Tower also goes under the ground for 15 metres. The concrete used to constuct the Sky Tower was 30000 tonnes and using 2000 tonnes of reinforcing steel. It was made to copy the Melbourne Sky Tower. Also our teacher helped build some of it.

    Waipa Delta
    Waipa Delta - a paddle boat built in the 1980's and brought to Hamilton from Tauranga originally as a restaurant. in 2009 it went up to Auckland.
