    For many years historians wondered where the acual location of vinland was. They thought that it was in a southern reigon.

    Freydis Eriksdottir leads expedition to vinland

    freydis, daughter of erik the red led a crew of vikings to newfoundland, even though she was pregnant.
  • Jul 30, 1497

    Cabot sails to newfoundland.

    henry VII of england gave the italian, john cabot permision to explore the north atlantic, hoping to find the riches of asia. He first set out with a small ship called the mathew along wth 19 crew members. He was acually looking for japan and china.
  • Jul 31, 1534

    Jaques Cartier makes first voyahe to canada

    along with one of Verazzo's officers, jaques cartier is sent out to find the north west passage. He crossed through labrador and newfoundland, sailed up through what are now called the prince edwards islands and new brunswick. Once he reached the Gaspe peninsula, he claimed the territory for france. He travleled along the st larence river, he stayed in stadoca, which is now quebec for the winter.

  • treaty of paris ends seven years war

    the treaty of paris stated that france gaveup all rights and colonies in north america to britain, ecept louisianna, and the city of new orleans which was given to spain, and the islands of st pierre and miquelon. in return, they got some sugar islands in the caribean.
  • stamp act passec

    the stamp act stated that americans had to pay a small tax similiar to todays goods and services tax. The money from the stamp act was supposed to pay to cost of deffending the american colonies.

    made conquered territory into a new british colony. this caused major problems witht the americans who disagreed with it. but good for canada and the french population.
  • perez sails the coast of british columbia

    the first shots were fired ni lexingotn. then when the bittians and the americans were facing eachother, the british told the americans to leave and also orederd his so,diers not to shoot. becasue of the tense siituation a shot was fired (probs by an american) and caused the whole british line to fire. this was called the "shot heard around the world"

    the french joined the war on the american side, swining the balance in favour of the americans.
