    Riot videoRiotOn February 15, 2011 it was not a calm night for many people living in Benghazi. They fought against the government and police. Riots don’t usually break out in Libya. In Benghazi, where the riot broke out, many of the people did not support the leader, Gaddafi, so they retaliated. This was the beginning of the Libyan Revolution.

    Key CapturedThe Libyan rebels took control of the gateway to the city of Ajdabiya. After a big overnight battle the government forces were sent away from the city. Many of Gaddhafi’s soldiers were killed around one of the town’s entrances. Since the rebels captured Ajdabiya gave the rebels more power and more confidence.

    Attack on GaddafiA missile set of by NATO was sent to a home with the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi’s family. The attack killed his youngest son and three of his grandsons. The deaths are not for sure, the NATO still has to confirm it. They attacked the house again when Gaddafi was in there with his wife and friends and other family members but him and his wife were not harmed but other people got a little injured.

    Arrest warrantThe warrants were for crimes against humanity. Murder and persecution are included in that from across Libya. He was not the only one who received the warrants. Other people that received them included his son, Saif al-Islam, and his brother in law, Abdullah al-Sanussi. The court found it nessiscary to give them the warrants to get them to stop causing danger to people across Libya.

    Rebels fightThe rebels knew they needed to take control of Az Zawiyah and Zlitan to take over Gaddafi. They then secured the town of Az Zawiyah as they announced it is free. As they went to Zlitan, the rebels and Gaddafi’s forces fought. It was reported a bloody battle killing 26 rebels and around 40 of Gaddafi’s men. Zlitan has been an unsafe place for battles for months. Mainly occurring between the government and rebels.

This date was when the battle of Badr first occurred in the holy city of Mecca. Gaddhafi had a lot to say about this event, calling the rebels traitors.

    Gaddafi is deadGaddafi was shot in the head during a riot between his supporters and revolutionaries. Before he was captured the U.S. drone and French fighter jets shot airstrikes, but NATO officials said they don’t know if it for sure hit Gaddafi’s vehicles. His death marked the climax of a war. After the man who led the country for 42 years was killed, Libya was full of happiness.

    LiberationWith Gaddafi’s death, Libya was announced Liberated by the new rulers. This was said in front of the people of Benghazi. This was the site where the revolt against Gaddafi began. Libya’s Prime Minister said that the elections are going to be held next year in June. This is a new and fresh start to the Libyan people.

    Abdel-Rahim el- Keeb becomes Prime Minister
    Video of Prime MinisterNew prime ministerAbdul Rahim El-Keeb became the new Libyan Prime Minister after Mahmound Jibril stepped down. He had pledges previously that he was going to back down once Gadhafi was done. The new minister had little political experience but it was worth a shot to try and renew the country. He won one more than half, which won him the position.
