  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord
    A small battle between the British Infantry and the Lexington militia, also called "Minutemen". The British were on their way to raid and Patriot arsenal in Concord. On the way back to Concord, other town militias joined together (about 1,700 men) to force the British back to Boston.

    Ethan Allen Takes Ticonderoga
    Ethan Allen with the Green Mountain Boys takes Fort Ticonderoga. The fort was poorly guarded, and they took it firing nary a shot. They then dragged Ticonderoga's cannons all the way to Boston and used them to drive the British Out of Boston

    The legendary battle at Bunker Hill. Even though they were outnumbered, the Patriots held off the British twice at Breed's Hill before they had to retreat to Bunker Hill Nearby.

    This battle finally turned hte tables. It was the first battle that the Patriots won. It was the also the first battle that was fought outside of New England. It brought a morale boost to all 13 Colonies.

    Washington Crosses the Delaware and Takes Trenton, NJ
    Washinton's men were cornered behind enemy lines, so they decided to secretly move across the frozen Delaware Riverl, anding in Trenton, New Jersey on Christmas Eve. The Hessian forces were up late celebrating Christmas when they were surprise attacked by the Continental Army. This was the first major victory for Washington and the Continental Army.

    Battle of Brandywine and Germantown
    In this battle, Washinton's forces to to stop Generals Cornwallis and Howe from taking Philidelphia. He failed. Now the capital city is held by the British!
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The British General John Burgoyne creates a battle plan that is surefire to destroy the Patriots. He then ended up surrendering his whole army to General Horatio Gates. This is what convinced England this this is a real war, not just a small scrum. The Patriot's mission accomplished, this won over the French to send over their navy, money, and supplies
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    Washinton was running low on money and supplies, so he wintered his troops at Valley Forge. Lots of soldiers don't have sufficient housing, blankets, clothing, or shoes. Over the winter, the soldiers got to train with European military leaders like Baron von Steuben and Casmir Pulaki. They got Washinton's Army in shape and together, and taught them how to fight the British army
  • Battle of Monmouth

    Battle of Monmouth
    This battle happened to be fought on one of the hottest days of the year. Lots of soldiers dropped of heat exaustion. Molly Pitcher, a water girl, took place for her husband at the cannons when he was shot. The battle ended when the British snuck away at night
  • Battle of the Bonhomme Island

    Battle of the Bonhomme Island
    This was a battle at sea. The captain on the ship Bonhomme Richard, John Paul Jones, takes the British ship HMS Serapis while his own ship is burning. The British asked him if he wanted to surrender, and he said, "I have not yet begun to fight!"
  • The West Point Treason

    The infamous Benedict Arnold commits treason at West Point. He was mad that his success wasn't acknowledged by the Patriots. He was so mad that he schemed to give the keys of West Point to Britsih Major John Andre. While Andre was being hanged, Arnold escapes with the British and leads British soldiers against the Patriots
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    General Cornwallis was surrounded by the Continental Army on land, and by the French Navy on sea. He had no choice but to surrender. As the British Surrendered, the played the song "The World Turned Upside Down" This was thelast major battle of the Revolutionary war.
  • The 1783 Treaty of Paris Signed

    This was the treaty that officially ended the Revolutionary War. England was forced to aknowledge America as a county. England had to give all it's land in America, including north of the Caribbean.
