    Lenin and his followers established a new communist state after the overthrow of the czarist regime. He had his followers hunt down anyone who opposed government because they were suspect.

    The 18th Amendment
    This constitutional law established Prohibition in the United States. It basically prohibited the use of alcohol in the US. Places like speakeasies, "under cover bars," illegally distributed it though.

    The Palmer Raids were attempts by the United States Department of Justice to arrest and deport anarchists from the United States. Over 500 foreign citizens were deported under the leadership of Mitchell Palmer.

  • Sacco and Vanzetti Trial/Conviction

    Sacco and Vanzetti Trial/Conviction
    Sacco and Vanzetti were arrested, accused, and executed for the robbery and murder of a factory paymaster and his guard in Massachusetts. Nationally, people protested because they thought the men were treated wrong for their radical beliefs and being anarchist.

    19th Amendment Ratified
    This amendment to the US constitution prohibits any United States citizen to be denied the right to vote based on sex. It basically gave women the right to vote.

    Teapot Dome Affair (Date ranging a year before Harding's death)

    The Teapot Dome Scandal was a bribery incident that took place in the United States. Secretary of the Interior Albert B. Fall leased Navy petroleum reserves at Teapot Dome and two other locations to private oil companies at low rates without competitive bidding. The leases became the subject of; Fall was later convicted of accepting bribes from the oil companies.

    National Origins Act
    A law that restricted immigration by establishing a system of national quotas that discriminated against immigrants from southern and eastern Europe and virtually excluded Asians. The policy stayed in effect until the 1960s.

    John Butler was a teacher in Tennessee. He violated the states law (Butler Act) in which he taught his high school students about evolution. He was found guilty but due to a technicality, he was free.

    He was the first man to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, nonstop. He was also an athlete. I guess all athletes aren't dumb.

    This was the first talking movie, ever! It is also a musical which I find very interesting.

    Hoover was the 31st president of the USA. He was a republican as well. Although, he was professionally a miner engineer and author; that really doesn't like up with politics.

    Stock Market Crash

    The 1929 Stock Market Crash signaled the Great Depression. The economy plummeted and unemployment skyrocketed. Although the crash wasn't the only cause of the Great Depression, it hasted the collapse of the economy and made the depression more severe.
