Boston Tea Party
This was an act of defiance to British rule over the colonists. American colonists were frustrated at Britain for imposing tax without representation. Therefore dumping 342 chests of tea, which were imported by the British East India Company. -

The first formal statement by the nation, where people can assert their right to choose their own government. This document was approved by the Continental Congress. -
