Japan is an island country that had just started their age of imperialism in 1931. SInce they did not have resources on the island Japan chose to take over Manchuria and parts of China. -
Hitler becomes the German Chancellor
During 1933 Germany was in a state of depression. Hitler had promised them that they could escape this if they would put him in power, since the Germans were desperate they believed him and followed his request. -
Invasion of Ethiopia
With Mussolini's rise to power he wanted to bring around the "Glory of Rome". In order to do this they needed resources and something to trade so they took over the last independent African country. -
The Munich Confrence
This was a meeting between the major Allied powers to decide whether to annex Germany or no. The decision was reached the the Sudetenland would be give back to Germany and taken from Cech. -
Kristallnacht
This was the day when the Jews were forced from their homes and sent to concentration camps or ghettos. It was ordered by Hitler that any ethnicity other than the German's national one be put into these camps including, gypsies. -
The Non-Aggression Pact
This was a peace treaty between Germany and the Soviet Union promising not to attack each other if war occured. This back did not last due to Germany attempting to invade the Soviet Union -
Invasion of Poland
This was the event that started WWII. The Allied had been promised by Hitler he would stop taking territory and then he invaded Poland so the allies took action starting WWII. -
Invasion of France
Since France was a big hitter for the Allies Germany decided to invade them. Using a strategy called blitzkrieg the Germans easily took France. -
Battle of Britain
Britain was the last ally in western Europe so naturally Germany wanted to take them out. The bombed cities and blockaded the waters hoping to exterminate the Brits. -
Pearl Harbor
This is the event that brought the US into the war. On this day Japan attacked the US naval fleet docked in Pearl Harbor and killed many Americans. -
Stalingrad
The battle of Stalingrad was the last time Germany would advance into Russia. With this Russian victory they were able to push the Germans out of Russia. -
Normandy Invasion
With Germany growing in power the Allies needed to take back from the Germans. The plan was to take France back in about 2 weeks but with the first battle being so difficult and bloody they had to take a slower route and took it over in a couple of weeks. -
V-E Day
VE-day is celebrated because of Germany's unconditional surrender. In the US we just consider it veteran's day to commemorate all wars. -
Drop of the Atomic Bomb
As a last solution to quickly bring the war in the pacific to an end Truman dropped the atomic bomb. IT was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, causing thousands of death and many radiation related diseases or disabilities. -
V-J Day
VJ day marks the end of war in the pacific. This celebrates the US victory over the Japanese.
