    Was a doctorine created by Secretary of State Henry Stimson to send out warnings (that we’re inffectual) to Japan about conquering parts of China as the president shunned any ability to interfere physically. This would set the precedent of the US staying out of interfering of the war even if they considered certain things immoral such as Japan conquering China.

    Committee finds that the US has joined because it would be profitable not under moral reasons. Thus the public was outraged and wanted to stay neutral.

    US rejects joining World Court
    Congress dismisses the bill to ratify the US to join the World court due to the belief that it would intertwine them with European affairs.

    One of the first acts of many that would establish embargos against anyone who was affected or involved by the war. This act would last up to 6 months until Congress would decide to renew this act later on.

    The neutrality acts were passed during this timespan in efforts of keeping the US out of the war by setting up provisions in order to stay neutral with the on going combat.

    The Japanese had sunk the US gunboat Panay as it was sailing a river in China. Even though it was visible that it was an American gunboat, the boat was still sunk and the US was forced to accept Japan’s apologies due to pressure from isolationists.

    The Nazis had broken the Versaille Treaty and invaded Austria as an effort to “unify the German speaking people into one nation”. The US and other countries refused to do anything about it leading a precendent for Germany to continue invading countries.

    Due to Poland being an ally with the British and the French, war sued over as Germany had begun its first act of war on Poland by invading. This act would soon push a division in America as to join or stay neutral in this time of war.
