  • Battle of the hedgerows

    2,500 American bombers blew a hole through the German lines and then sent tanks through the gap.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Hitler had one last desperate offensive attack and his goal was to cut off Allied supplies from coming through the ports of Antwerp, Belgium.
  • The battle of Iwo jima

    60,000 American marines landed in Iwo Jima and the troops got inland and destroyed the Japanese buckers with flamethrower and explosives. 6,800 troops died capturing the island.

    America loaded firebombs on a B-29s and dropped them on Tokyo.
  • President Roosevelt's tragic death

    While he was in Warm Springs,Georgia and he had a stroke and sadly passed away. His vice president, Harry S. Truman, became the president and finished the war.

    America was trying to invade Okinawa because it was 350 miles away from the mainland of Japan and in June 22 1945 it was taken
  • Hitler's suicide

    Hitler knew the war coming to an end and knew that he couldn't show his face in Germany so he went down to his Berlin bunker and committed suicide.
  • The war ends in Europe

    Germany accepted the terms for a unconditional surrender and the next day it was proclaimed as "Victory in Europe".

    Physicist J.Robert Oppenheimer led a team and detonated the first atomic bomb in New Mexico
  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    President Harry S.Truman talked about dropping the bomb on Japan if they didn't surrender to save thousands of American lives and it was for the better if we did that.
  • The (IMT) International Military Tribunal

    United States,Britain,France and the Soviet Union created the IMT to punish Germany and Japan for war crimes. They were held at Nuremberg Germany
