  • Non-Agression Pact

    It was a pact bwtween the soviet union and germany. Which guarenteed that the two countries would not attack eachother. Germany benifited because this pact provided protection for themselves, and less fighting.
  • Germany Invaded Poland

    After heavy shelling and bombing, Germans brought over 1.5 Million troops. German planes also bombed the cities in poland. Then they had no other choice but to surrender to the Germans.

    An Act that authorized the FDR o sell, lease, or lend military hardware to any country that we were allies with.

    The Battle of Britan

    Was a very imortant battle in WW2. After Germany and Hitler had conquered most of Europe, including France, the only major country left to fight them was Great Britain. Germany wanted to invade Great Britian, but first they needed to destroy Great Britian's Royal Air Force. The Battle of Britian was when Germany Bombed Great Britain in order to try and destroy their air force and prepare for invasion.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Nazi Germany and its Axis allies began a massive invasion of the Soviet Union named Operation Barbarossa. Some 4.5 million troops launched a surprise attack deployed from German-controlled Poland, Finland, and Romania. Hitler had his eyes on soviet recorces for a long period of time. More than 800,000 Soviets had been killed, and an additional 6 million Soviet soldiers had been wounded or captured. Despite massive advances, Hitler's plan to conquer the SovietUnion before winter had failed.

    This battle caused major destruction of japans naval strength when the americans destroyed four of its aircraft carriers.

    The battle of Stalingrad

    Considered to be the turning point in WW2. The Battle bled the German Army dry in Russia and after the defeat, the German Army was full in retreat. Stalingrad was an important target because it was Russias comminication centre.

    The Battle of the Buldge

    The Battle of the Bulge was the last major Nazi offense against the Allies in WW2. The Battle was a last resort attempt by Hitler to split the Allies in two in their drive towards Germany and destroy their ability to supply themselves. Hitlers plan was to launch a massive attack using three armies on the Allies which would, in his mind, destabilise their accord and also take the huge port of Antwerp through which a great deal of supplies was reaching the Allies.

    Battle of Iwo Jima

    When US armed forces landed and eventually captured the island of Iwo Jima. Its a very small Pacific island, just over 4.5 miles long. The islands were very important because they had two major airfields on the island that were used by the Japaneese.
  • V-E Day

    The end of WW2 with Europe. It marked the formal conclusion of Hitlers war. With it came the end of the six years of misery, suffering, courage, and edurance across the world.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Soviet Union formed this alliance as a counterbalance to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a collective security alliance concluded between the United States, Canada and Western European nations in 1949.
