    German Invasion of Poland
    On September 1st the Germans invaded Poland, officially starting the war. The polish had significantly less military strength, so Germans easily used new tactics to invade, and secure Poland. Thus causing Great Britain and France to declare war. This ended just a month later on October 6.

  • Battle of Belgium

    Battle of Belgium
    In May 1940 Germans had an offensive operation as part of the battle of France, however Allied forces believed this was their main attack, so they tried to impede the Germans in Belgium. The Belgian are my surrendered just weeks later on May 28, 1940. This battle was the first tank battle of WW2.

    Also known as Operation Fitz, where the German planned to invade the Soviet Union. The Germans, however, failed. This was crucial for the Soviet to gain more power, making it a turning point in the war. Ended December 5, 1941.

    October 2nd 1941 German troops were trying to grab a hold of Moscow in the Soviet Union. However their plans were pushed back to due to Russians winter. The Germans had a strong beginning, but Soviet’s ended up defeating them due to conditions, which would create issues for Germany later. This ended January 7, 1942

  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    This battle happened when Japan bombed the US in Hawaii. The Japs were angry with the US after finding out they’d been helping China. This is what caused America to leave isolationism and join WW2 officially. It happened at 7:48 am in Hawaii.

    Starting August 1942 in Volgograd, the Russians fought the Germans/axis powers. It was one of the bloodiest battles in he war. However also a turning point for the allied powers. It ended February 1943 when German troops surrendered.

    This battle, starting January 1944 was the Allied Forces trying to pull German troops off the Gustav Line during operation shingle. Although a long stalemate, the Allies finally broke through and captured Rome. Ending the war June 5, 1944.

    On June 6, 1944 US, Canadian, and British troops invade the Normandy coast in hopes to gain control of France back from Germans, who previously invaded. Without the troops bravery France wouldn’t have been liberated. However they were and there battle ended August of 1944.

    Starting in December 1944, the Germans would take one last chance at making an offensive push at the Allies. However the Allies had strong military and successfully ended up invading Germany from the west. This ended in January 25 of 1945, the year the war would end.

    The battle of Berlin, starting April 1945 was the Allies successful attempt of attacking the German city. This battle ended the fighting on the eastern front, and most of Europe as a whole. It ended May 2nd 1945, making a big impact on the success for the Allies.
