  • Japan Invades Manchuria

    The starting point of the aggression between China and Indochina was in Japan. Japan's goal was to gain economic dominance to solve problems through expanison.
  • Munich Pact

    The Appeasement policy was meant to grant the aggressor's land to maintain peace. France and Britain gave Hitler more land in the agreement of Hitler to not seek any more.
  • Neutrality Acts

    The Isolationist policy kept the US out of the war. This limited the US from selling supplies need for the war.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    In 1939, Germany invades Poland. Hitler later broke the Munich Pact by invading more land. This led France and Britain to declare war
  • Kristallnacht

    This event was known as the "night of broken glass". Nazis in Germany stole, destroyed Jew property, and killed up to 100 Jews
  • Lend- Lease Act

    Congress authorized FDR to lend, sell, and transfer finances and weapons. They then allowed the US to transfer the isolationist policy to the international policy.
  • Exec Order 8022

    The Exec Order forbids racial discrimination in the New Deal industry. African Americans grew tired of being denied a job. Philip Randolph organized a march demanding change.
  • Atlantic Charter

    Britain and the United States gained a strong alliance between them. The charter was determined that the US and Britain take on German aggression.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    A surprise bomb attack from the Japanese on the US territory of Pearl Harbor. The bomb killed over 2,400 Americans. 1,300 wounded and damaged and sunk ships.
  • Exec Order 9066

    This order was authorized by Japanese residents. Americans later feared Japanese Americans. This fear came from the Pearl Harbor Attack.
  • Battle of Midway

    This battle stopped the US and Japanese from advancing. The US wanted to have the help of the Soviet Union to help them invade Japan.

    The invasion of North Africa was to protect the oil interest. This operation was launched in the Mediterranean Sea.
  • D-Day

    The invasion of Normandy on the western front. Germany had a total of 3 to 4 fronts and resources.

    Battle of the Bulge

    The German offensive was the start of the Nazi's fall. Soviet marched from the east. American, French, and British soldiers came from the west .
  • Korematsu v. United States

    Fred Korematsu was a Japanese American. He decided to not leave his home and report to camp. His case was taken to the supreme court.
  • Yalta Conference

    The conference was broken down between FDR, Churchill, and Stalin. This was the FINAL plan that defeated the war in Europe.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki

    President Truman decided to drop the atomic bombs on the islands of Japan. The president demanded that he didn't want any American's lives to be lost.
  • United Nations is created

    October 1945, the United Nations was created. This was an intergovernmental organization that was to maintain international cooperation.

    Nuremberg Trial

    This was a trial for Nazi officials and civilians. Hitler later escaped prosecution through suicide and Nazi officials and civilians.
  • Truman Doctrine

    The Truman Doctrine was to contain communism in Europe. The US helped Greece and Turkey resist communist rebel forces.
  • Marshall Plan

    The US provided financial aid to European countries. The finances prevented communism.
  • Israel is established

    The Jewish community created Israel as a state. The US gave support and recognition to Israel

    Berlin Airlift

    The United States supplied Berlin resources through airdrops. The US response to the Soviet Union formed a blockade around Berlin.
  • US establishes NATO

    NATO- North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Its purpose was to support the military alliance. They later organized the Warsaw Pact which also supported the alliance.
  • Soviet Union Test Atomic Bomb

    The Cold War was an arms race between the US and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union tested the atomic bomb in the US that increased the development of the bomb.
  • Korean Conflict (War)

    North Korea invades South Korea. Truman gathered that the Soviet was behind this and they wanted to get the United Nations involved
  • Soviet Union Launched Sputnik

    The Soviet United started the Space Race between them and the United States.
  • National Defense Education Act

    The US congress increased science and math. The fear of competition's weapons had US building bomb shelters.
  • Rise of the Berlin Wall (Construction begins...)

    Germany was split and in middle was the city of Berlin which was basically split in half as well. It was cut between the Soviet Union and the Allied Zones.
