    Hitler decided to make a pact with the soviet union to invade Poland and split the territory. This conflict had shown the world Germany's offensive tactic, called blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg is known as high speed armored warfare. The invasion of Poland was the event that began one of the bloodiest wars, World War II.

    The invasion of Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg
    On May tenth Germany or Hitler invaded Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. Hitler invaded these countries as part of a bigger plan to invade France. During these invasions many people were forced into the Germans control or lost their lives. This event added to the unforgivable acts done during World War II. Making us never want to go back to these wars.

    Germany's plan to invade the soviet union had the code name "Barbarossa". This plan began to unfold June twenty-second, 1941. This lead to Germany fighting a two-front war. The invasion was the largest and deadliest German military operation of World War II. Operation Barbarossa was a turning point in the war, because it was a loss for the Germans. This had also caused so much death on both sides.

    The bombing of Pearl Harbor was a devastating day for Americans. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and killed around 2,403 Americans. The bombing caused a lot of casualties. This same event pushed the United States into the war. This bombing contributed to the end of all wars because of all the bloodshed and death.

    The battle of midway was the first loss for Japan's Navy in 350 years. At this "weakened" state the United States decided to go on offence. This battle had brought out the Pacific naval forces of both the United States and Japan. This had begun a turning point in both of their military struggles. The battle of Midway also added to the ever growing casualty count of World War II.

    The Battle of Stalingrad
    The battle of Stalingrad is considered one of the biggest conflicts/battles during World War II by many. The Soviet Union fought Germany to protect the city of Stalingrad in Russia. It ended in a successful protection for the Soviet Union. This being considered on of the largest conflicts also meant a lot of death. There is an estimated 800,000 deaths by the end of this gruesome fight. With that many casualties, no one would want another war like World War II.

    D-Day
    D-day or also known as Normandy Invasion is considered the greatest invasion in history. It was a day full of bloodshed. D-day is considered to be one of the bloodiest days in American history since the battle of Antietam. Around 2,500 American soldiers died because of this invasion. That meaning it had added many more casualties to the list. This contributed to World War II being the "end of all wars".

    Battle of the Bulge
    The battle of the Bulge was the last major German offence on the Western front. Germany had failed to push back the Allies from German territory. The battle of the Bulge had weakened Germany's forces and defenses. By the end of this war the Allies suffered around 75,000 casualties, Germany lost 120,000 men and stores of material. This was another case of mass casualties leading us further and further away from ever wanting to see or participate in a war like World War II.

    Hiroshima was hit by the first atomic bomb on August sixth 1945. This was a sort of retaliation from the Pearl Harbor incident. The bomb killed tens of thousands of civilians living in Hiroshima. Leading to the the war becoming the war to end all wars. No one wants to see this much death again. This was one of the events that helped coax Japan into surrendering.

    The second time an atomic bomb dropped was in Nagasaki. It instantly killed 40,000 civilians. Many of the survivors had died afterward due to the chemicals from the atomic bombs. The bomb not only took innocent civilians lives but many homes too. This tragedy added to the mass bloodshed from Wold War II.

    The End: Japan surrenders
    In the end Japan was forced to give up. After arguing with the rest of the world, Japan was forced to surrender. Originally Japan had declined the rest of the worlds "offer of peace". With the bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan was loosing too much and were forced to surrender. This was the end of the gruesome war.
