    Assaissination of Franz Ferdinand
    Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated while visiting Sarajevo Bosnia. He was next in line for the Austro-Hungarian throne. The killings set off decades-old tensions in Europe and started WWI.
  • Sussex Pledge

    Sussex Pledge
    A German U- Boat blitzed a defenseless passenger ship called the Sussex. Several Americans were injured by the accident and this upset Americans even more. Germany began to panic that Americans might enter the war if they kept ticking them off. To help they offered money to​ the people injured on the Sussex and promised to warn neutral ships. The Sussex Pledge only lasted a hot second before Germany ambushed the U.S again.
  • Sinking of the Lusitania

    Sinking of the Lusitania
    The British blockaded the U.S from trading with Germany. Germany could not match ​Britain's blockade, so they decide to use the U-Boat. With the U-Boat Germany would sink any vessel that entered or left British ports. At the near cost of Ireland, a German U-Boat torpedoed the British passenger liner called the Lusitania, which killed 128 American citizens. Many Americans were provoked by this, and with this action, it brought us a step closer into the War.

    U.S.Enters WWI
    Germany's U- Boat were attacking U.S boat's that were heading or leaving Allied ports. Then the German's went behind America's back by forming an alliance with Mexico, if America ended up joining the war. After that, the Russians started a revolution that ended there autocracy and it was now a Russian government. This showed Wilson that the Allies were fighting for democracy.
  • Battle of the Argonne Forest

    Battle of the Argonne Forest
    More than 1 million American troops joined the Allies to take down Germany at Argonne Forest. This battle changed everything between the Allies and the Central Powers. The Allies had pushed back the Germans which, led to invasion in their own country. As the Central Powers were on the verge of collapsing they surrendered to the Allies except for Germany.

    The Russians Quit the War
    Brawls were breaking out in Russia because of food shortages and the government. A group, Bolsheviks, decided to take action and overthrew the government so they could get out of the war. On March 1918, the Bolsheviks signed the​ Treaty of Brest - Litovsk with Germany. The treaty took Russia out of the war and they were no longer associated with the Central Powers.

    Treaty of Versailles
    The Allies and Germany signed the Treaty of Versailles, where Germany had to take full responsibility for the conflict. They had to pay the Allies billions of dollars and had to disarm completely. They also ​would have to give up there overseas colonies and some territory in Europe. The treaty also dealt with Russia and Austria- Hungary where it created some new nations and restored old ones.
  • Senate rejects League of Nations

    Senate rejects League of Nations
    Wilson's concept of the League of Nations was to preserve peace and prevent future wars. Some people of the Senate thought that it would make the U.S a permanent role in world affairs. Republicans, who controlled the Senate, saw this as a chance to embarrass Wilson by rejecting the League of Nations. As it was rejected in 1921, the U.S signed a separate peace treaty with each of the Central Powers.
