Fascism in Italy
When Benito Mussolini took power in Italy he had finally achieved his first goal. His ideas and himself had started to gain popularity throughout Italy. He wanted to bring Italy back to greatness and make it a leading power in Europe. He took control of the government without taking a single shot. He slowly shared his beliefs and eventually made Italy into a more daring power. -
Treaty of Versailles
The treaty was made by the main power houses at the time including Britain, France and the United States. They forced Germany to agree and took away many of there rights. They had to donate lots of military troops and also had to pay off a hefty debt. They were also limited in there military power waging at about 100,000 troops no submarines and limited navy and air troops. The goal of the treaty was to keep Germany from starting another war right after that war ended. -
Communist International
In the Fall of 1920 communist movements gained speed in the rising nations of Europe. Due to Comintern which was founded in March of 1919. They assassinated a member of the Bolshevik party that happened to be a model and the whole party came after the person in charge of the assassination. -
League of Nations
The United States wanted to create some sort of world wide security organization. They recruit other nations to join in on the idea.Such as France, Italy and England. When the league of nations was created the United states did not actually join because they did not want to get that involved in the war at this moment in time. Germany as well as Russia were not invited. -
The Hopeful Years
In Europe most countries were recovering from World War 1. This put tension on the people of the country as well as on the government trying to control the population. The countries were also economically recovering from the depression. Germany was admitted to the league of nations at this time. They also created treaties with each other to ease the tension and disputes. Man people were finally feeling good about life. This helped the recovery from World War 1. -
Stalin in power in Russia
When Lenin died Stalin came to power in Russia. When Stalin defeated his last political opponent he took full control of the nation, Throughout the country Stalin tries to make Russia an industrial power house. He uses force and fear to control the nation. He uses force to kill off his opponents through a group of secret police that called themselves the black shirts. He spread his communist beliefs throughout the country memorizing the people. -
Depression
In October of 1929 the stock market crashed in the US. Stock value was at an all time low this and the demand for money had caused a depression the spread world wide. When the depression hit the US did not have enough money to support the economy. In some countries the depression had lasting effects that dragged on for a couple of years. This did not help the fact that most countries especially Germany were in debt. -
Japan invades Manchuria
When the Treaty of Versailles was created Japan was not took into consideration. They decide to invade Manchuria because of frustration and anger. This undeclared war had been caused by the fact that Japan was not considered in the Treaty and was trying to be prevented by the other countries. -
Third Reich
In 1933 Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany. Within a couple of months the Nazi party had taken control of the entire country. They started to expand the country going against the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler plans to start another war to put Germany in the power seat and gain reputation. Hitler is trying to complete his long wanted goal of being the strongest country. -
Germany Starts to Go on Alone
9 months after Hitler took control he withdrew from the league of nations. He also leaves the disarmament meeting. His preparation for the next war is what he is trying to act on. He will try to persuade another country to go to war so that he can show off his military.
