    Thousands of students march through Yiananmen Square protesting the communist government. They called for democratic reforms. Hunger strikes began and over one million are gathered at the square by mid May. On June 4, Chinese troops reach the square an begin firing at the protestors. 10,000 people are arrested and hundreds to thousands are killed.
