    On D-Day, the U.S and Allied troops were led by General Dwight Eisenhower into an invasion of Normandy, France. The armies fought their way through France and Belgium into Germany, while the Russian soldier fought on the East. On May 7, 1945, Germany decided to surrender.

    Even though the war in Europe ended, the Japanese still fought on. President Truman decided to use a newly developed atomic bomb that was never tested, just to end the war quickly. On August 6, 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, killing about 78,000 people and injuring 100,000 others. 3 days later, a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, killing 40,000 people.

The results of this is that the U.S withdrew nuclear mussels from Turkey and Italy also the Soviet U ion withdrew nuclear misses from Cuba.

    Insurgent groups known as the mujahideen, as well as smaller Maoist groups fought a war against the Soviet Army as well as the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan government.The mujahideen groups were allied with the U.S, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. This made this a Cold War Proxy War. Between 562,000 and 2,000,000 civilians were killed. Millions of Afghans fled the country as refugees. They fled mostly to Pakistan’s and Iran.

    He was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist. He was also the President of South Africa. His government focused on destroying the legacy of the apartheid. Nelson Mandela was a leader of both peaceful protests and armed resistance. Nelson Mandela was a a devoted champion for peace and social justice in his own nation and around the world until his death in 2013 at the age of 95. Nelson was sentenced life in prison for trying to overthrow the state.

This war was started by Saddam Hussein because of the use of chemical weapons and attacks on third-country oil tankers in the Persian Gulf.

    This is a armed conflict fought in Syria between the Ba’athist Syrian Arab Republic led by President Bashar al-Assad, with its allies and other forces going against both the government and each other in different combinations. This war is still going on today.
