    Educated women in the middle class got better job opportunities.
  • College

    Oberlin was the first college to accept women.
  • Students

    at least 20 percent of all college students were women.
  • AWSA & NWSA

    Nwsa wanted to give women the right to vote and AWSA focused on winning the right on a state by state basis.
  • Susan B. Anthony

    Susan B. Anthony and her sisters did a dramatic protest. They signed up to vote in New York then got arrested.
  • Supreme Court

    The court decided it was up to the states to grant or withhold that right.
  • Prohibition movement

    Called for a ban on making, selling, and distributing alcoholic beverages. Reformers believed alcohol was often responsible for the crime, poverty, and violence against women, and children
  • 18th Amendment

    The 18th Amendment was so unpopular however, that it was repealed in 1933
