Columbus had a goal of finding a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never accomplished his goal (Christopher). Columbus accidently ended up on the Americas (Christopher).

    Ferdinand Magellan set out from Spain
    Ferdinand Magellan took 5 old ships with him and set out from Spain (Ferdinand). Ferdinand was looking for fame and fortune (Ferdinand). He was trying to discover a western sea route to the Spice Islands (Ferdinand). On his voyage he discovered what is now the the Strait of Magellan and became the first European to cross the Pacific Ocean (Ferdinand).

    What began the thirty years war was when the Archbishop of Prague ordered for a protestant church to be destroyed (Thirty). The Protestants rose up in a revolt but within two years the rebellion was ended by the Count of Tilly (Thirty). Battles continued continued and Tilly was killed by the King of Sweden (Thirty). After 1635 the war lost it's religious character and became political (Thirty). The war ended in stalemate and diplomats fixing affairs in the Peace of Westpalia in 1948 (Thirty).
