On sep, 3 1939, Hitler attacks from the east, his troops are attacking from the north south and west. berlin got very few supply from Britain and France. This event started the War. Britain and France declared war on Germany after this event. -

In the battle of Britain, Germany uses there royal air force and bombs Britain all day for three months straight. The U.K. lost 1,000 planes and Germany lost 1,700 planes. The U.K. used a radar to scan and see where the german troops were flying in from. -

Pearl harbor, was when the Japanese bombed us soil, a place called pearl harbor. They attacked in two separate waves, the first attack was there main attack to take out the ground units and naval ships. The second wave was to clean up what the first wave left behind. FDR declared war on dec 8, 1941. -

Stalingrad was the turning point of the war. It ended any plans of Hitler dominating. Soviet troops forced Nazi armies to retreat toward Germany. The USSR went after Germany's attack. This opened the eastern front of the war. -

The British have been fighting the Germans and Italians in North Africa since 1940. Forcing Germany out of North Africa would provide the Allies with an opportunity to invade Italy. In 1943, George S. Patton defeated Rommel, both were famous tank commanders. 240,000 Germans and Italians surrendered. This provided a way for the Allies to invade mainland Europe through southern Italy. -
D-Day
D-day was originally called operation overload, D-day was the storming the beaches of Normandy The Allies created a fake army of wood and cardboard tanks and ships to convince the Germans that the invasion would come to Calais. Hitler sent his army to Calais and the Allies invaded Normandy France. -

Soviets liberate the camp known as Auschwitz, The soviets find a horrible surprise waiting for them at the camps. The U.S. and soviets find more and more camps just like Auschwitz. Alive and dead Jews awaited them at those camps. -
Victory in europe
Hitler's rain lasted only 12 years. On May 7, Germany surrendered in a French schoolhouse that had acted as Eisenhower's headquarters. FDR passed a few weeks prior and Harry S. Truman would see the US through the war. At this point, the end of the war was close in sight. -

After relentlessly bombing Japan, they would still not surrender.So the US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The USSR declared war on Japan three days later, and the US dropped a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki. -

the Berlin airlift all started when Stalin cut off all roads, rail roads, and canals, between west Germany and west Berlin. The Berlin airlift was when Stalin would send cargo planes over west Germany and drop packages with supplies like food water and clothes.
