    John Tyndall became a mathematics and surveying teacher at Queenwood college. Queenwood college was a boarding school in Hampshire, England and only operated from 1847 to 1896. "Recalling this decision later, he wrote: "the desire to grow intellectually did not forsake me; and, when railway work slackened, I accepted in 1847 a post as master in Queenwood College.(Tyndall, 1868)"

    Tyndall showed that gases including carbon dioxide and water vapor can absorb heat. He wrote: “Thus the atmosphere admits of the entrance of the solar heat; but checks its exit, and the result is a tendency to accumulate heat at the surface of the planet (Jackson, 2020)."
