    The sensorama was invented in 1956 by Morton Heilig and was patented in 1962. There was full color 3D video audio vibrations atmospheric effects such as wind and even smell. this was all created scent producers vibrating chair stereo speakers and stereoscopic 3D screen.

    Ivan Sutherland with his student Bob Sproull created the first virtual reality HMD named The Sword of Damocles this head gear was connected to a computer. It was never made developed beyond a lab project because it was to heavy for people to comfortably wear. they had to be strapped in because it was suspended from the ceiling.

    Furness created a flight simulator between 1986-1989 known as the super Cockpit. the training cockpit featured computer-generated 3D maps advanced infrared and radar imagery and the pilot could see and hear in real time.the helmets tracking systems and sensors allowed it to control the aircraft with gestures, speech and eye movement thats cool.

    Antonia Medina a NASA scientist designed a vr system to drive the mars robot rovers from earth in supposed real time.

    the Nintendo virtual boy originally known as VR-32 was a 3D gaming console that was hyped to be the first ever portable console that could display 3D graphics.

    Georgia Tech and Emory University researches used VR to create war zone scenarios for veterans this was known as virtual Vietnam

    Palmer Luckey an 18 year old created the first prototype of the Oculus rift headset it featured a 90 degree field of vision which had never been seen before which relied on a computer processing power to deliver the images.
