  • Sand Creek Massacre

    Sand Creek Massacre
    Americans soldiers killed approximately half of the Cheyenne; a tribe of roughly 800 men, women, and children. Killing mainly women and children as they surrounded and descended upon the tribe.   • Chinese Exclusion Act

    Chinese Exclusion Act
    In 1882 congress passed a law baring Chinese men and women from entry, 25yrs later they place another ban on Japanese people. Gradually including criminals, contract workers, the mentally ill, anarchist, and alcoholics. By 1917 you needed to be able to pass the test of literacy, and by 1924 an absolute cap was placed on the flow of immigrants into the U.S. based off of ethnicity.

    Dog eat dog world in the industry field. Companies who couldn't supply quality product for a cheapest price were driven into the ground through bankruptcy. The Economy nearly doubling in size.

    Labor Unions
    Kids were working long days to the point were most kids working weren't able to attend school. No workers compensation for injuries on the job. Pregnancies would lead to your termination at work. Labor Unions started popping up, but were unorganized in the sense that they couldn't agree on common goals.

    To engage or not to engage. That is the question. Well unfortunately the decision to not not engage was soon forced by the efforts of Britain. After two and a half years of being a bystander and trying to maintain peace with both sides. The U.S. is forced into the war by an attack made from Germany.

    Treaties and Leagues
    President Wilson made a list of 14 points he wanted to focus on to help prevent future wars, but the other members at the meeting where more concerned with reparation from Germany. When he returned with the treaty of Versailles the senate rejected it. The U.S. sat on the sidelines for the next 20yrs as the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations lead the nations into a more gruesome battle than before.

    Not again, war breaks out between Japan and China, and then between Germany and Czech, Poland, France, and Great Britain

    Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    As means to try and get the Japanese to forfeit the war, Americans dropped a nuclear bomb on the City of Hiroshima and then 3 days later on the City of Nagasaki.
