  • The Austrian Anschluss

    The Austrian Anschluss
    This occurred because Hitler threatened to invade Austria because he wanted to unify the German speaking people under Germany. He was going to invade Austria unless his demands were met and the Austrian chancellor met his demands but then tried to put the matter of unification with Germany to a democratic vote. Hitler did not agree to this idea so he sent troops into Austria and announced it Anschluss which means unification.
  • The Munich Conference

    The Munich Conference
    At this point in time Hitler had already unified Austria and Germany but now announced claims to Sudetenland, which was an area in Czechoslovakia. Representatives from Britain, France, Italy, and Germany meet here to decide Czechoslovakia's fate. France and Britain came to an agreement called the appeasement at the conference so they can try to prevent war from happening.
  • Hitler Demands Danzig

    Hitler Demands Danzig
    A month after the conference, Hitler wanted to seize control of Danzig in Poland. After Hitler demands for the territory Britain and France said they would aid Poland if Germany tried to invade. At this point France and Britain knew that war was inevitable. Eventually Germany invades Poland and France and Britain join in to start the beginning of world war 2.
