    Postwar prosperity ends in the 1929 Stock Market crash. The plummeting stock prices led to losses between 1929 and 1931 of an estimated $50 billion and started the worst American depression in the nation's history.

    Starting in 1930 and ending in the 1933, the bank run caused thousands of banks to close throughout the nation. Large number of people withdrew their deposits for cash, forcing banks to liquidate loans. More than 11,000 banks were closed by 1933.

    Written on September 14, 1814 by Francis Key after whitnessing the flag still standing at Fort McHenry after a bombardment by the Britich. It was used in most branches of the armed forces. Wilson signed after congress finally passed it.
