  • Founding of Jamestowm

    Founding of Jamestowm
    The first successful English Colony, Jamestown, is founded in North America. The colony was founded by the Virginia Company of London. The company invested money into the voyage because they hoped to earn money from the villagers.
  • Revolutionary War Started

    Revolutionary War Started
    The Revolutionary War was being fought because the 13 colonies wanted separation from Great Britain. Throughout the war, Britain sent more than 2,000 soldiers to the colonies to try and regain their control. By June, the early Americans were in control or every state and Britain lost their control over the colonies.
  • The Declaration of Independence Signed

    The Declaration of Independence Signed
    The Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 people. Its purpose was to break away from Britain and to become their own state. The declaration took effect and the colonies were later free from the hold Great Britain had over them.
  • Revolutionary War Ends

    Revolutionary War Ends
    After 8 years, 4 months, 2 weeks and 1 days, the Revolutionary War is over and the 13 Colonies were free from Great Britain. Most loyalists returned to Britain, but some stayed and started families in the colonies. Over 80,000 people died from the war.

    The Steamboat had a major impact on the world. It was invented to help carry goods up and down the Mississippi River. It did just that, too. The Steamboat was able to carry more cargo going down AND up the Mississippi river than that going by little man - powered boats. Also, it was faster than the original boats.     Ratification of the United States Constitution
    Nine states ratified the Constitution which replaced the government that they had from the Articles of Confederation to the Constitution.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was bought by President Jefferson for $15,000,000. Each acher of land was sold for 3 cents. As soon as the purchase was made, the size of the US doubled in size.

    Lewis and Clark Journey

    President Jefferson hired Captain Meriwether Lewis to explore the newly purchased Louisiana Territory. Lewis then asked Lieutendant William Clark to help him with the journey. They took with them some other men to give assistance to the journey. On their exploration, a Native American woman, Sacagawea, became part of their group. They came back with new knoweledge of the territory and maps for it.

    The Texas Revolution

    The Texas Revolution (also known as the Texas War of Independance) was being fought because Texas wanted to break away from Mexico. Mexico didn't want that to happen, so they went to war. 'one of the most famous fights was the fight for the Alamo. The attack held out for 12 days. By the end, about 183 Texans (Americans of Texas) died. Hundreds of Mexicans died also. Eventually, Texas was delcared free from Mexico. (McDougal Littell, American History, Pg 429-431)

    California Gold Rush

    About 250,000 Americans raced to California to try and find the new discorvered, valuable gold. Americans rushed to California, naming it the California Gold Rush. The gold rush had a tremendous impact on the United States. Because so many people raced to California, the population numbers skyrocketed and caused great economic growth.   • Fugitive Slave Act

    Fugitive Slave Act
    In 1850, the Fugitive Slave Act was passed. This act made it so that slaves that escaped could be held without an arrest warrent. Southerners agreeded with this because they saw slaves as something they owned. Northerners were very against this because the slaves wouldn't be safe when they get to the north.   • Uncle Tom's Cabin

    Uncle Tom's Cabin
    Harriet Beecher Stowe was angry about the Fugitive Slave act. Her anger inspired her to write "Uncle Toms Cabin" in 1852. The novel is about the cruelty of slavery and describes the escape of a slave name Eliza and her baby. The northerners liked the book but the Southerners argued that the book presented false picture of the south and slavery. The book heightened the tension between the North and South. It brought bloodshed to the west and even to congress. (McDougal Littell, pages 485-486)
  • The "Bleeding Kansas"

    The "Bleeding Kansas"
    March 1, 1855 The "Bleeding Kansas" was when John Brown and some other men attacked 5 of the proslavery neighbors. After other people found out about this violence, a Civil War broke out in Kansas for 3 years. After the war, the territory was to be called "Bleeding Kansas". (McDougal Littell 486-487)

    Abraham Lincoln Assasinaion
    John Wilkes Booth assasinated Lincoln by shooting him behind the ear while Lincoln was watching a show. Lincoln was declared dead at 7:22 am. He was the first president ever assasinated.

    George Smith is supposidly the person who invented the syle of the lollipop we see today.So many companies and small buisinesses say that they are the ones who are in relations with the first person to have accually founded it, so no one knows for sure.There are many different names for the lollipop such as lolly, sticky-pop, and sucker. The lollipop has been used for medicines and still is. Also, sticky-pops have been used as a part of a movie. Such as The Wizard of Oz.

    See's Candies was the first shop ever! They sold a variarty of chocolate and still do. It's founder, Charles See, came down from Canada to California and then started up a first in the world candy shop. Now, the shop has spead all over the world.Even in Hong Kong China. It has over 2,000 workers and is a multi million dollar buisiness.

    On the day of the collaspe, the stock market lost 14 billion dollars. They lost so much money that it took up every profit the stock market ever had.

    The first action comics featured Superman. When they first came out, they were $10 a copy. Then, as sales increased, both creator got $500 per issue. In 2011, one original copy sold for 2 million dollars.

    World War II was started when Adolph Hitler began slaying Jews becuase of pure hatered. Hitler and his German troops would abduct Jewish people and put them in concentration camps. There, they got torchered and killed. The Jews were also forced to wear "The Star of David" on their arms so they could be easily reconized from non-Jewish people.

    Japan Attacks US Navy at Pearl Harbor
    The United States Naval base was attacked by the Japanese Navy. The military strike was ment to prevent the United States from stopping the military actions of the Empire of Japan. 2,402 people died and 1,282 were wounded.

    WWII finished when Adoph Hitler committed suicide. As the news spread about his death, Jews were let out of the concentration camps and stopped being killed. Every street had a street party and millions of people celebrated. The second World War was over. Unfortunately, over 72 million people were murdered.

    An American B-29 bomber dropped the world's first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. The atomic bomb was the equivilent of 12,500 pounds of TNT. About 80,000 people were killed, 35,000 were injured, and 60,000 would be dead by the end of the year because of the bomb.

    The Korean War was stared because communists from North Korea started to go into South Korea. During the war, the United States gave money and reasources to South Korea. Later, the U.S started to go and fight the war themselves.

    The war finally finished due to an armistice agreement between the United States, the People's Republic of China, North Korea, and South Korea. The total death toll including civilians, soldiers, Koreans, and everyone else involved is about 5 million or more.

    The war started because Americans beleived that communism was threatning to expand all over South-East Asia. When the war started, over 2 million people were deployed to go and fight the war.

    Spider-Man is originally from Marvel Heroes. Six movies have been made about Spider-Man. When the copies of Spider-Man came out, they were originally around $9. Now, they range from $1,000 - $1.1 million.

    The March on Washington was intended for jobs and freedom. Nearly 300,000 people attended. Some observed that 75 - 80% of the people were African American. It is said to have helped pass the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

    The first Srper Bowl was against the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Cheifs. The Green Bay packers won. The score was 35-10.

    The Vietnam War was finally ended when the South Vietnamese troops started to retreit from the northern provinces. Then, the South Vietnam Capital of Saigon fell to the North Vietnamese. OVer than 4 million people total died throughout the war.

    Ronald Regan was inaugrated for the first time. He was inaugruated in private and was the fourth president to be inaugurated on a Sunday. Ronald Regan was expecially known for his speech "tear down this wall" which was meant for the Berlin Wall.

    The Explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle
    73 seconds after take-off, the space shuttle "Challenger" exploded in the sky. The explosion was due to a failure of it's right solid bootster. All seven of it's crew members died in the explosion. Some of the crew memebers survived the break apart, but died from the force of their body hitting the water down below.

    Islamic Terrorist Attack the Twin Towers
    Four passenger planes were hijacked and two crashed into the North and South Twin Towers. The third crashed into the pentagon and the fouth was targeted for Washington, D.C but instead crashed into a feild close by. The purpose of the attack was all the Americans to turn against one another and start another World War. Instead, it did the opposite. Americans worked together to help others and get as many people to safety. About 2,996 were killed total in the 9/11 attacks.

    The First Inauguration of Barack Obama
    Barack Obama was the first African American president ever to be elected. He recieved 66,117,432 votes. 270 electoral votes were needed to win and Obama got 365.

    Hillary Searle started doing tap/jazz dance at Signature Dance Studios. Later, she started doing lyrical dance.
  • Mockingjay Movie

    Mockingjay Movie
    If I could go into the future, I would got to see "Mockingjay Part: Two". I would travel to see the first showing of that movie because will most likely be an amazing movie. Also, it is the last movie in the Hunger Games Trilogy and hopefully, the cast will be at the premeire too and I would be able to sit next to them.
