    U.S. investors lost $30 billion and signaled the beginning of the Great Depression.
  • "Black Tuesday"

    Share prices on the New York Stock Exchange completely collapsed, starting the Great Depression and earning the name "Black Tuesday".
  • No Banks

    600 banks closed nationwide. By 1933, there were 28 states without banks.
  • Hoover Dam Begins

    The public works project was started and provided employment for 5,000 men.
  • Unemployed

    Unemployment in the United States went from 4 million to 12 million in 2 years. Everyday 1000 homes were repossessed.
  • The March

    World War I Veterans march on Washington demanding pensions. General Douglas MacArthur uses force to remove them.
  • Election

    Roosevelt was elected for U.S. Presidency.
  • The Dust Bowl

    Huge dust storms made of top soil hit a section of the Great Plains that contain Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
  • Boxing

    African-American Joe Lewis and German Max Schmeling competed for boxing's heavy weight title. Schmeling was the winner of the 1936 Heavyweight Title.
  • Hoover Dam Complete

    The Dam was finished and will provide water and electricity for the American southwest.
  • Rematch!

    The rematch was at the Yankee Stadium in New York, and Joe Lewis won the rematch in only 124 seconds, the second quickest heavyweight title fight in history.
