    He was an American soldier and statesman who served as the seventh President of the United States and was the founder of the Democratic Party.
  • Sewing Machine

    Thomas Saint invented the first sewing machine design. It was only meant to be used on leather or canvas.
  • Cotton Gin

    This was invented in the United States by Eli Whitney. This machine greatly sped up the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber.
  • Interchangeable Parts

    These were parts or components that were now made identically. This was a revolutionary idea.
  • "King" Jackson

    People referred to President Jackson as "King" Jackson because he behaved more like a monarch than a president. He vetoed many laws and made lots of decisions on his own without any consent from official advisors.

    This was the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country.

    This industrial corporation was in Lowell, Massachusetts. The working condition in this mill were not ideal and the women working in it were not paid well.

    This was signed into law by President Andrew Jackson authorizing the himself to grant unsettled lands west of the Mississippi in exchange for Indian lands. Tribes were forced out of their homes.

    This declared that the Tariffs of 1828 and 1832 were unconstitutional and unenforceable in South Carolina after February 1, 1833.
