    Due to Bunyoro's overpopulation, it became unstable. Buganda started to take control of Bunyoro's land and eventually Buganda became the dominate state.

    Mwanga Dethroned
    Mwanga, was overthrown after trying to rid Buganda of missionaries.
  • Mwanga Reinstated

    Mwanga is reinstated with the help of Christians and Catholics. and signs a protection treaty with Germany
  • The Beginning of the End

    Germany goes back on the peace treaty by making an opposing agreement with the British. Consequently, the Imperial British East Africa Company takes control of Buganda.
  • The Making of a Protectorate

    Britain "helped" run Buganda until they (Buganda) ran out of money. This lead to missionaries successfully pressuring Britain to make Buganda a protectorate.

    Colonial Rule

    Systems of rail roads are created and are helpful, but, they were built on the backs of natives and south Asian immigrants. the British advised that cash crops like sugar, coffee. and cotton be grown. also during this time, Buganda's autonomy was reduced even when the Buganda Agreement had been signed only a few decades ago. as you can see British colonialism was a down-hill slope of destruction for Uganda.
  • Mwanga Dethroned Again

    Mwanga bravely challenges the British but to no avail. he is dethroned and his child succeeds him.

    Uganda is Created

    Buganda comes to be Known as the Uganda protectorate and country borders are established.
  • A Royal Puppet

    The Buganda Agreement. This "agreement" basically stated that Britain would allow Bugandan leaders to remain in power, as long as they did exactly what the British wanted. In a way, the Bugandan leader was a royal puppet.
  • Mutesa II

    Mutesa II
    Just like Mwanga, Mutesa II tried to oppose the british, and just like mwanga, Mutesa II was dethroned from his position as kabaka, a sort of king, but was also exiled.
  • Mutesa II Returns

    Mutesa II was reinstated as the ruler of Buganda.
