This is when we gained our Independence from Great Britain. We were freed from King George. Thomas Jefferson wrote the first draft of the D.O.I. The other members of the committee made 86 changes to it. -
Signing of U.S. Constitution
The Constition is the law/government of the U.S. It gives everyone equal freedom. The Constition includes 27 amendments, which give us our freedom. -
Cotton Gin Invented
The Cotton Gin was invented by Eli Whitney. He invented the machine in 1793. The Cotton Gin helps to clean the cotton much faster. It increased the pounds of cotton cleaned by 1,000 lbs. per person. It is important because it made the slaves' work so much easier and faster. -

The gold rush began when James Marshall found the first gold nugget. After that, many people headed out o California to hopefully strike it rich. The people in search of gold were called forty-niners. It is important becuase it provided some extra money for families who found gold and it increased the poulation of CA. -

WW2 was the most destructive conflict in history. The Nazis murded about 12 million people. 500,000 people died in the United States. -
Martin Luther King Jr. "I Have A Dream" speech
This is when Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech. He wanted equalty between whites and blacks. He gave his speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial. There were over 250,000 people in the audience. Martin Luther King Jr. told about his dream in just 16 minutes. -
Apollo 11 landing on the moon
This is the first landing on the moon. It was launched from Cape Kennedy, Florida. Two Americans, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were on the mission. Armstrong was the first to step foot on the moon. -

Terrorist attacks of 9/11
September 11, 2001 was a very tragic day for the U.S. At 8:46 a.m. one of the hijacked planes crashed into the North WTC. At 9:03 a.m. another hijacked plane crashed into South WTC. 35 minutes later, the Pentagon was struck. This killed 3,000 people with thousands more injured.
