    Spring Semster 2014
    27th January-22 April
  • MidSemester -EJ

Been working with phonemic awareness. Still very unsure about begining and ending sounds. Typically just repeats the example words back. Occasionally gets frustrated and makes up nonsense words to try and sound the same in verbal exercises.
  • MidSemester- Mavry

Fluency is not at the level appropriate for her age/grade level. Uncertain about sounding out new words. Looks at first letter and guesses a word that starts with that sound rather than taking the time to evaluate the word.
  • MidSemester- Belen

Eager to read. Very talkative, sometimes would rather tell stories and things that come to mind from the text rather than read the next page. Very motivated by stickers at the end of sessions.
  • End Semester- Mavry

Still guessing at words based on initial letter to try and read faster, but will slow down and determine the correct word when prompted. AMAZING improvement on her timed reads. From mid 50's to the 80's on her final reads.
  • End Semester- EJ

Still very inattentive. More likely to guess sounds that match what is asked (begining, ending sounds). Much improvement with recognizing when he hears sounds that are similar. Interest in stories, but gets very frustrated very quickly when trying to read words he knows from them. Does not care for being read to. When the story is read aloud by tutor, he loses interest and is often out of his seat.
  • End Semester- Belen

Belen is much better with her fluency. She is able to recall words she struggled with the first time and improve on them when she sees them next.
  • End Semester- Callie

I only worked with Callie the last few weeks of the semester. I had both Callie and Belen in the same time slot. Very talkative, to the point where it takes reminders often to keep her on track. Likely to play with magnets and lose focus. Very competative with the two together. Her fluency improves upon reading a text more than once. Good grasp on vocabulary.
