    This disaster occurred in Java/Sumatra. The effects of the eruption and resulting disasters killed around 36,00 people. The eruption caused temperatures all over the world to drop. The magnitude was estimated at around 9.6.
  • Aleutian Earthquake

    This disaster occurred in Alaska. The quake and resulting tsunami killed around 165-173 people. In total, it caused over $26 million in damage. It's estimated magnitude was 8.6.
  • Great Chilean Earthquake

    Great Chilean Earthquake
    Lasting about ten minutes, the disastrous earthquake that occurred in Chile had a magnitude of 9.4-9.6. To this day, the death toll remains unresolved, however, the estimated number of causualties is around 1,655.
  • Good Friday Earthquake

    This disaster occurred in Alaska on Good Friday, a holiday after which it the event is known by. The quake had a magnitude of around 9.2-9.5. The disaster took around 139 lives in total. After the main quake, up to eleven major aftershocks were recorded.

Interestingly enough, the quake and resulting tsunami originated off the coast of the sea town, and the tsunami dominantly caused damage once it reached land. The quake reached a magnitude around 7.7, and the disaster in total caused about 230 deaths.

    This disaster occurred in Papua New Guinea. The earthquake's strength caused an undersea landslide, which triggered the resulting tsunami. The quake had a magnitude of around 7.0. The disaster in total claimed around 1,600 lives.

    This disaster occurred in Indonesia. The quake had a magnitude of 9.1-9.3. It caused a rupture along the fault near the Burma plate. In all, the disaster resulted in around 240,000 deaths

    This disaster was so immense that it was felt strongly in six different regions of Chile. The quake had a magnitude of 8.8. The disaster resulted in more than 500 deaths.
  • Tohoku Earthquake

    Tohoku Earthquake
    This disaster occurred in Tohoku (東北), located in Japan. The earthquake had a magnitude of 9.1. The disaster killed at least 29,000 people. Subsiquent to the quake and tsunami, many deaths were a result of poor education and a lack of decent disaster relief.
