  • Birth of Maiko

    Birth of Maiko
My granddaughter Maiko was born June 5, 2009 and is my first blood grandchild born to my son and his wife. I was 47 at the time. The birth of Maiko changed how I referred to myself. I was no longer just a mom, I was a grandma. I never thought I could love someone so much. The family dynamics changed that day by adding another generation. We are blessed that we get to watch this beautiful child grow and experience life's milestones.

    Birth of Peyton
Peyton was born May 19, 2012 to my daughter and her husband. Because her husband worked out of town for long periods of time we were very involved with the pregnancy. She was admitted to the hospital the night before and I stayed with her. We were in the delivery room when Peyton was born. It was a very difficult birth, we almost lost my daughter. I was so traumatized that I couldn't even hold Peyton. Of course now she is a very important part of our life, we are blessed to have her.

    Married my Best Friend
I met Dave in August of 1990, a year later we began living together. We raised five kids between the two of us. On July 27, 2012 while visiting the Oregon Coast he asked me to marry him. We got married on our favorite beach on July 28, 2012. We were no longer domestic partners we became husband and wife. I was 49 years old at the time and he was 52. We made our commitment to each other official uniting 2 families and making them one.
  • Changed Employment

    Changed Employment
After 13 years with the same company and the age of 52 I changed employers. I left a non-profit agency that has been working with the developmentally disabled since the 1970's for a start-up company. I still work with the developmentally disabled just in a different arena. Although I knew I was ready for a change, the decision to make the move was scary. I had no way of knowing if the company would be successful. I'm still there and some of my client's moved too.
  • MSW

    MSW
August 2017 at the age of 53 I started working towards a Masters of Social Work. After a long discussion with my husband, we decided that this is a step I need to take. This decision will affect us both because I will need to cut my hours at work for field study and need assistance with the upkeep of our home. It has affected our family because I am backing away from the big holiday celebrations that I usually host. I chose this picture because he is my rock.
