  • Aug 3, 1492

    Columbus Finds America

    On August 3 Columbus set sail with three ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. He was trying to reach Asia to bring back gold, pearls, and spices for Spain. On Thursday October 11, 1492 he reached the Bahamas.
  • The 13 Colonies were founded (1607-1733)

    Virginia - 1607
    Massachusetts - 1620
    New York - 1624
    Maryland - 1632
    Rhode Island - 1636
    Connecticut - 1639
    Delaware - 1682
    Pennsylvania - 1682
    New Hampshire - 1719
    South Carolina was founded in 1670 and it was combined with North Carolina until they split into two seperate states in 1729.
    Florida - 1700
    Georgia - 1732
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War was often called the seven years war. It lasted from 1754 to 1763. It created what would turn out to be a very long lasting rivalry.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the Sons of Liberty. This made America stand out and very famous for defying taxation without representation. At the time Britiain had been putting all sorts of crazy taxes on America without telling us and they were also taking away many rights and abusing their power.
  • Revolutionaty War

    This war lasted from 1775 to 1783. It started at the Battle of Lexington and Concord with the Shot Heard 'Round the World. It ended at Yorktown and the colonists surprised many people and were victorious in the end.
  • Writing of the Constitution

    In Pennsylvania many men met to discuss changing a dicument that was already in place. But at the meeting they ended up creating a whole new constitution. The same one that we still live under today in fact. It gave us rights as citizens and it brought us freedom and a peace of mind.
  • The Industrial Revolution of the 1800's

    The Industrial Revolution brought about things like the water wheel and the steam engine. Many people starting using steam as a faster way of travel. It also brought about exchangable parts which allowed mass production and lower costs. But one of the bigges inventions was the Telegraph. Invented in 1844 using the Morse code you could get your message across the state or country in a matter of moments compared to days or even weeks!
  • Lewis and Clark

    In 1804 the Louisianna Purchase had just been bought, but it was a mystery, No one knew what it held in store for them. But the biggest question was is there a North West Passage? So Maryweather Lewis and William Clark and 31 others set out to discover the land and all that it held in store for them.
  • Missouri Compromise

    An agreement was passed between pro-/anti-slavery factions in the US Congress. It prohibited slavery in the former Louisianna Territor north of a certain area. The House of Representatives had refused to accept the compromise. Many other things were drafted but eventually the document that was signed forbid more slaves into Missouri and every slave was to be freed on his 25th birthday.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas was a series of violent confrontations in the United States involving anti-slavery and pro-slavery, that took place in the Kansas Territory and the state of Missouri between 1854 and 1861
