Spanish explorers called conquistadors came in to explore the "New World" during the 1500's. One of them was called Ponce de León. Ponce de León was the one who founded Florida. -

Tenochtitlán Empire's Downfall
Hernán Cortés overtook the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlán. The Native Americans of the empire fought back for the empire and got it back, but it wasn't long before Cortés took back the empire. -
Jamestown Colonists
In the late 1606, 100 male colonists were sent to Virginia by 3 ships from the London Company. After sailing 60 miles up the James River, they built the Jamestown colony. -
Starving Time
Many settlers came into Jamestown in 1609 and experienced a horrible period. In the winter of 1609-1610, Powhatan Indians killed the colonists' livestock in resentment and caused many of them to die. -
Plymouth
The Mayflower ship set sail in Sept. 1620. The Mayflower's expedition was expected to land near the Hudson Bay, but due to circumstances, the ship landed at the Cape Cod and explored the area, founding Plymouth. -
Tobacco
In the spring of 1622, Native Americans launched a surprise attack against farmers that were taking over their lands because of tobacco. -
