  • The Texas Declaration of Independence was signed

  • The Battle of the Alamo

    This was a thirteen day siege that resulted in many deaths including those of William B. Travis, Davy Crockett, and Jim Bowie.
  • The Battle of Refugio begins

    Texas troops commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel William Ward are attacked by General Urrea. Texas retreated.
  • The Goliad Massacre

    The Mexicans captured the Texans after a brief battle and took back the Fort Goliad chapel. The Mexicans held the Texans prisoners for a week, word came to execute all of them. 300-400 Texans lost their lives on March 27, 1836.

    A majority Republic vote approved a proposed Texas State constitution.
  • Texas becomes a state

    The Republic of Texas is annexed by the United States of America. On this same day president Polk signed a bill that accepted Texas as the 28th state of the Union.
