    Abraham Lincoln was elected for president on in 1860. While Lincoln was president during the civil war, he issued the emancipation proclimation. This freed the slaves from the southern states and eventually would free ALL slaves.This added an effect to the southern states making it difficult for them to produce agriculture etc.

  • TX secedes from Union

    TX secedes from Union
    Texas becomes the 7th state to secede or leave the Union. After they seceded, they joined the confederate States of America. Over the objections of their governor, Sam Houston, the Texans who voted to leave the Union did so, and texas did not share the rising secessionist sentiments of other Southern states. However, events swayed many Texans to the secessionist cause.

    Houston gets kicked out of office
    The reason behind Sam houston getting kicked out of office was because, Sam Houston refused to pledge allegance to the confederate states of america. Houston studied law and became a lawyer, and eventually got into politics. When Sam Houston got into polotics he slowy made his way to being Govner of Texas.

    This event involved Fort Sumter surrendering to the confederates. On this day of April 12, 1861 Henry S. Farley fired the first 10 in. mortor round beginning the Civil War. Fort Sumter ended up surrendering to the confederates. The outcome was the beginning of the civil war.

    In the city of Galveston Confederate troops attcked union troops on January 1, 1863. Afterwards a temperary three-hour truce was called by the confederates and ignored by the Union commander. All the Union commander wanted to do was surrender because he did not want to live a life knowing that he truced with the confederates! So instead of trucing he went with his other 8 ships to force surrender.

    July 1-3, 1863 was when the Battle of Gettysburg occured. The Battle of Gettysburg was considered the largest battle of casualties in the whole Civil War. It is also considered as the most important battle of the Civil War. The union won this battle against the confederates on July 3, 1863.

    Battle of Sabine Pass
    The Battle of Sabine Pass was a battle between the Union and the Confederates. This was an attempt and failure of the Union reconquering there land. the union saw the battle ships (5 mph steamboats) coming, so they backed out into the mouth of the Sabin river and formed a blockade. A total of 28 people were killed in the Union and the Confederates won.

    March 10th through March 22 is when The Red River Campaign occured. This was the time were the majority of Union troops gathered up and went upstream the Red River in Luisianna. The troops consisted of riverboats and infantry. All the tasks set by the Union commanders were not completed or not done.

    The Union ended up winning the Civil war in 1865. Recnt studies show that there were about 850,000 people killed in the Civil War. The Union had a totsl of about 650,000 people killed in the Civil War. April 9, 1865 was the end of one of the largest historical events known to man.

    The Battle of Palmito Ranch was pretty much known as the final battle of the American Civil War, The battle was fought on the banks of the Rio Grande, East of Brownsville, Texas, and a few miles from the seaport of Los Brazos de Santiago, on May 12–13, 1865.Union and the Confederate forces were in a temperaty truuce when the Union leader ordered an attack.The eThe fight was therfore know as Battle of Palmito Ranch

    Juneteenth was a celebration of the ending of slavery in the United States! This is on June 19, 1865 because, that was the date of all enslaved people being freed. Ways of celebrating Juneteenth involve going top rodeos, parades, carnivals etc. You can also celebrate Juneteenth by singing the songs written by African Americans while they were enslaved.

    The Reconstruction of the Southern United States was directed by Congress and its focus was the the reconstruction of state and society. Also ,the Republicans in Congress were not content with curbing Johnson's' authority. By getting the majority of the votes they all wanted to remove Johnston' for his actions. So that meant that at a later date Ben Wade would become a president at a later date.
