This was the creation of YouTube, the creation that changed life forever on February 14, 2005. YouTube has about 576,000 hours of videos viewed every day. YouTube is the second largest search engine online – right behind Google. Video marketing is getting to be more and more attractive every day. -
2005: The world's largest commercial jet is unveiled in France
On October 25, 2005 the Airbus a380 was introduced. The AirBus a380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner manufactured by European manufacturer Airbus. It is the world's largest passenger airliner, and the airports at which it operates have upgraded facilities to accommodate it. This was important because a jet airliner being able to have so many upgraded parts to accommodate more people is better to have in the airports. -
2006: Kobe Bryant’s 81 point game
Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors on January 22, 2006. After two quarters of the game against the Raptors, the 18,997 fans in the stands of the Staples Center were getting ready for another Laker loss when suddenly they became witnesses of a piece of history: Kobe Bryant scored 55 points in the second half to total 81 points, the second-best scoring show of all time, setting a Lakers record. It was right under the legendary record Wilt Chamberlain set of 100 points. -

On January 9th, 2007, Steve Jobs stood on a stage and introduced the device that would come to define the biggest tech company in the world which was the iPhone. Apple is celebrating that announcement at Macworld 2007, remembering the revolutionary product that has rapidly become the largest tech company. -
2008: Obama won presidency
On November 4, 2008, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois was elected president of the United States over Senator John McCain of Arizona. Obama became the 44th president, and the first African American to be elected to that office. Obama was inaugurated on January 20, 2009. He was subsequently elected to a second term over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. This is important because He was the first “Black” President of the US. -
2009: The Hudson Plane Crash Miracle
On January 15 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 took off from LaGuardia Airport in New York for Charlotte, North Carolina. In less than 20 minutes, the engines malfunctioned and the pilot, Chesley Sullenberger had no choice but take a big risk. The plane was “landed” on the Hudson river. Miraculously, no passengers died in this event. This event was important because this type of landing has never took place so dangerously and nobody got injured. -
2010:The Burj Khalifa officially opens in Dubai
On Jan 4 2010, the World's tallest Structure Opened. The Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a total height of 829.8 m (2,722 ft), the Burj Khalifa has been the tallest structure on this planet ever since. With 160 stories, this building has many elevators and lifts. This tower in Dubai is a very famous attraction as it is the tallest building ever created. -
2010: FIFA World Cup
2010 FIFA World Cup was in South Africa. In the final, Spain, defeated the Netherlands 1–0 after extra time, with Andrés Iniesta's goal in the 116th minute giving Spain their first world title. As a result of their win, Spain represented the World in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. Host nation South Africa, 2006 champions Italy and 2006 runners-up France were all eliminated in the first round of the tournament. -
2011: Earthquake causes havoc in Japan
This supernatural earthquake occurred in Japan on March 11, 2011. Shifting plates and rising water. The tectonic plate under the North American plate caused a massive earthquake and a tsunami. An 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Honshu, Japan at a depth of about 17 miles below the earth's surface. This caused widespread damage and initiated a large tsunami that devastated many areas of the country. The financial damage was estimated to be about $199 billion dollars. -
2011:Killing of Osama Bin Laden
On May 2, 2011, Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States, was killed by U.S. forces during a raid on his compound hideout in Pakistan. The notorious, 54 year old leader of Al Qaeda, the terrorist network of Islamic extremists, had been the target of a nearly decade-long international manhunt. This event was so important because, Osama Bin Laden was known for being the mastermind of so many issues in the world. -

London hosted the 2012 summer Olympics. Athletes from the United States won the most gold medals, with 46, and the most overall, with 103. The summer Olympics consists of many summer sports like swimming, track, long jump, high jump etc. -
2013: Boston Marathon Bombings
The Boston Marathon Bombing was a terrorist attack that occurred on April 15, 2013, when two homemade pressure cooker bombs went off during the Boston Marathon, killing 3 and wounding more than 260 people. After a manhunt, police captured one of the suspects, 19 year old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The other suspect and older brother, 26 year old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, died after a shootout with law enforcement. The brothers planned and executed the attacks which was so important because it was so deadly. -
2014: Sochi, Russia hosts the Winter Olympics
Sochi, Russia was elected on 4 July 2007 during the 119th International Olympic Committee (IOC) session. This is the first time that the Russian Federation has hosted the Winter Olympics. The Winter Olympics are full of action filled, winter sporting events that countries around the world compete to get medals and go down in the history books. The United States earned the most medals with 26, but Norway earned the most gold medals with 11. -
2015: Cyclone Pam strikes Vanuatu and the South Pacific.
Cyclone Pam causes widespread damage in Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Kiribati, and New Zealand on March 13, including 15-16 deaths. Cyclone Pam produced high winds, coastal storm surges, heavy rains, and flooding in the affected countries and was classified for a time as a category 5 storm. About 166,000 people required immediate food aid. With maximum sustained winds at landfall that measured 165 miles (270 km) per hour, Pam was among the most powerful tropical cyclones ever recorded. -
2015: The 2015 IIHF World Championship
The 2015 IIHF World Championship was the 79th event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), held in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, between May 1- May 17 2015. The tournament was the top division of the Men's World Ice Hockey Championships. Canada defeated Russia 6–1 in the championship final game. Canada went undefeated at the tournament to win its first IIHF championship since 2007. -
2016: Harambe the gorilla is shot dead
On May 28, 2016, a three year old boy visiting the Cincinnati Zoo fell into the enclosure at the Gorilla World habitat. He fell into a moat of shallow water. The 440 pound male silverback gorilla named Harambe carried the boy out of the moat onto dry land. Afraid for the boy's life, zoo officials made the decision to kill the gorilla, doing so with a rifle shot. Witnesses said the boy was between Harambe's legs when the shot was fired. Harambe was killed one day after his 17th birthday. -
2016: Donald Trump wins U.S presidency
Donald J. Trump won the Electoral College with 304 votes compared to 227 votes for Hillary Clinton. Seven electors voted for someone other than their party’s candidate. Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States in a "stunning outcome". -
2017: Attack on mosque in Quebec
The Quebec City mosque shooting was a terrorist attack/mass shooting that occurred on the evening of January 29, 2017. Six people died after a shooting at a mosque in Quebec City. Canadians have donated thousands of dollars for the victim's families. The suspect is Alexandre Bissonnette, a 27 year old student at Laval University is facing six counts of first-degree murder. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called the attack an act of terrorism. -
2018: Dangerous Mudslides in Montecito, California
Mudslides swept away 100 houses in Montecito, California, killing at least 20. At least 65 homes and 462 other residences were damaged in Santa Barbara County. Commercial buildings were destroyed. As teams frantically searched areas of Southern California smothered by rivers of mud and boulders, officials increased the size of the evacuation zones. The immediate areas where at least 17 people were killed were under mandatory evacuation.
