While teaching at Berkley, Kuhn published his best known work, "the Structure of Scientific Revolutions." within his publishing he would lay out the belief that science was not a liner process it was much more muddled then that. In his reckoning, he would suggest that the very nature of scientific growth happened in spurts called "Paradigm Shifts" and then went on to break down the stages of these spurts, or "shifts" as being sequential.

In 1996 Kuhn passed away from lung cancer, his work was so influential that not only are his works still cited today and used (in this very class) to teach about the scientific revolution. But an endearing award, given by the American Chemical Society was designed to give opportunities to speakers who present new ideas that are counter to currently held beliefs!
