  • Fellowship at Harvard

    While still earning his PhD, he worked on a three year fellowship at Harvard. He did not teach, but solely focused on creating his ideas as a science historian and philosopher. Thus, truly starting the beginning of his scientific career.
  • The Copernican Revolution

    In Kuhn's book, "The Copernican Revolution", he disregarded the idea that the earth orbits the sun. This became his first of many revolutions in the philosophy of science.
  • University of Berkley

    Kuhn accepted an offer from the University of California at Berkeley, where he became an assistant professor in both the Philosophy and History Departments. Two years later he was promoted to associate professor and given tenure and began a fellowship at Stanford where he wrote his book, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions".
  • Paradigm Shift

    Kuhn described his theory in his book, "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions". The paradigm shift is actually what shaped his name. Kuhn explained his theory as a fundamental change in the basic concepts and experimental practices of a scientific discipline.
