    The Life of Auguste Comte
    The Philosopher known as Auguste Comte was born on January 19, 1798 in Montpellier, France. He was educated at Univ. of Montpellier and Ecole Polytechnique. He left both before graduating. In 1842, he divorced his wife of 17 years and was fired from his job at Ecole Polytechnique. Comte became involved in a plutonic but loving relationship with Clotilde de Vaux who died within 2 years after meeting. He died on September 5, 1857 in Paris.     The third work, he created a religion called Religion of Humanity. It idealized the role of women in a Positivist society which he had planned to establish. The religion embraced morality, humanity and reason.
