  • The Stamp Act

  • Repeal of The Stamp Act

Parliament repealed the Stamp Act. This was the colonists' first victory against England which encouraged the colonists to fight against the British.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
Mobs of colonists began to fight against British soldiers. Five people died which caused a lull in violence and began the topic of principle versus self interest. Colonists agreed to pay taxes on molasses and parliament lessened taxes.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
This was the second crisis point. Britain helped the East India Company and raised tax and monopoly concerns among colonists. A group of colonial patriots disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians, boarded three ships, and threw 90,000 pounds of tea into the harbor.
  • Coercive Acts

Parliament begins to worry about the level of authority they have over the colonists. They closed the Boston Port until the lost tea was paid for, maximized laws, and made the colony's governing council and law-enforcement officers appointed.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
The colonists declare and gain independence from Britain. This is the beginnings of the American Revolution.
