  • Thirteenth Amendment

    Thirteenth Amendment
    The thirteenth amendment was added to the Constitution of America. That added of this amendment did away with an century old practices, by abolishing slavery in the United States of America. The signing of the amendment and the ending of the civil war lead the country into the Reconstruction Era. The signing of the Thirteenth Amendment took place in Washington D.C., at the time were the Radical Republican had most of the control over the House of Representatives and Congress.
  • Fourteenth Amendment

    Fourteenth Amendment
    The Fourteenth Amendment was added to the Constitution. This amendment come about after the Civil Rights Act of 1866. The amendment was intended to oversee rights for the black male to vote and do away with some of the Black Codes that were pass in the south states. The amendment also did away with the three-fifths law, didn't allow any former Confederate leaders hold any type of power position in the Federal Government. The Amendment was signed in Washington D.C. and ratified within each state.
  • Fifteenth Amendment

    Fifteenth Amendment
    The Fifteenth Amendment was added to the Constitution. The passing of the Fourteenth Amendment didn’t address the law like the Black Codes laws in the south that stop the black men the right to vote. The amendment was still weak in which it didn’t address the literacy test and poll tax, which was most common ways they were disenfranchised in the South and North. This amendment was the third and final amendment added in the Reconstruction Era.
  • Sixteenth Amendment

    Sixteenth Amendment
    The Sixteenth Amendment was added to the Constitution. This amendment was added to Constitution to give the Government the right to add income tax directly to an individual, prior to this amendment the government could only apply it directly to the state not the individual. This addition came about after President Wilson’s New Freedom agenda which lowered the tariff rates on imported good to help the increase competition in the interest of consumers, which is know as the Underwood Tariff Act.
  • Seventeenth Amendment

    Seventeenth Amendment
    Seventeenth Amendment was added to the Constitution. This amendment was one of the biggest addition to the Constitution for the Progressives Party which give the people of the country more power in the electing of US senators. This was just one of the laws this party passed on the Federal level. This marked a pivotal point in the Progressives Era. This Amendment was signed in Washington D.C. and was one the most liked amendment by the people after the passing of the Sixteenth amendment.
  • Eighteenth Amendment

    Eighteenth Amendment
    Eighteenth Amendment was added to the Constitution. The Prohibition cause a big division in the country between the Dry South and the Wet North. This also sparked some of the best writers to come out of this generation. The amendment did more harm than good by increasing the crime rates in most cities and giving one of the biggest crime loads an avenue to build an empire on, Al Capone.
  • Nineteenth Amendment

    Nineteenth Amendment
    Nineteenth Amendment was added to the Constitution. Which was the first big step for women in a federal level, giving the women the right to vote. Which give the right to vote to all sex. Many states at this time already give women right to vote and other things, it was just a matter of time that the country up on board with this amendment.
