The Treaty of Versailles
After the Allied Powers won the war, The Treaty of Versailles was written to bring a final end to the war. All the blame was placed on Germany. They couldn't have a military and they had to pay for all the damage caused by the war. Germany had to take full responsibility for the war. -
Hitler Comes to Power in Germany
Hitler took control over Germany after the loss of WW1. The Nazi party promised the people of Germany the removal of the Treaty of Versailles. This quickly caught the German's attention and soon enough Hitler began to rebuild the military. Soon after, he became a totalitarian ruler. -
The Invasion of Rhineland
Hitler decided that he wanted to take over European countries to make an empire. He began by sending Nazis to Rhineland to take over. Rhineland was very close to France and the French feared Hitler invading France. -
Anschluss
Hitler wanted to further expand his empire, so he thought what better place than his homeland? In 1938, Hitler and his Nazis invaded Austria. Hitler believed this was fine due to the fact that Austrians and Germans shared the same culture and language, so it would make sense for them to become one. The Austrian ruler quickly surrendered to Hitler because most of Europe feared him. -
Munich Pact
The Munich Pact was a pact between France, Britain, and Germany which stated that Hitler could not invade any other European countries, but that Hitler could have Czechoslovakia. Hitler agreed and the other European countries were relieved. -
Beginning to WW2
When Britain and France realized that Hitler and Stalin had invaded Poland, they became angry. Hitler broke the Munich Pact. France declared war on Germany and Britain declared war. -
Nazi-Soviet Pact
This was yet another pact between Germany and Russia. Hitler feared Russia, so he made a pact where they both become alliances, agree to not invade their countries, and to split Poland up between both countries.
