Toussaint became skilled general and diplomat and sooner or later he took control of the whole island. By doing this he freed all of the enslaved Africans.

    The leader of the Latin American war of independence (south) was lead by Jose de san Martin who was an Argentinian. Napoleon's conquest of Spain made a revolution in the Spanish colonies.Two man took control and started to revolt. He went across the Andes to Chile and that when they joined Bernardo O'Higgins army and freed Chile. After that they went to drive the Spanish forces out of Lima. That's when Martin and Bolivar joined together and defeated Spanish and went on to freed other countries.

This led to the rising of the modern nation-states.
