The Revenue Act of 1763

  • The Proclamation of 1763

The Royal Proclamation of 1763 started at the end of the French and Indian War. The British tried to take as much control as possible over the colonies. This action closed down colonial expansion in the South. Some of the Indian Chiefs wanted to split land in order for them to have more land. The colonists were unhappy with this decision. The British then started to want more land for farming because they saw that the colonists were able to get more farmland for their crops.

    The Revenue Act of 1763

The Revenue Act went from 1763 to 1766.
  • Sugar and Molasses Act

    Sugar and Molasses Act
This act was passed by parliament because the first Sugar Act was about to expire. Parliament was happy with this decision. Merchants were having to pay for each gallon of molasses they took which I think is fair because in modern days we have to go grocery shopping and buy our own food. The merchants were unhappy because in the English colonies, all of the goods were cheaper than in the French West Indies. This unhappiness started the Sugar Act and brought less fur trade between countries.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was also passed by British parliament. Instead of having to pay for sugar, the colonists and merchants had to pay for every piece of paper that they used. The cost started off small but began to grow and grow the more angry the colonists got. This act's purpose was to raise money for British colonies. Many colonists tried to sneak past this act and just use their paper without the small payment. Parliament was happy because they were able to get more money because of the tax raise.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
Many people ask, What is the Townshend Act? The Townshend Act is actually not a single act, but a series of acts in the colonies and government. This act was again passed by British Parliament in 1767. Many people saw this as a waste of time and power against their colonies and countries. The British colonies made the taxes higher for the English colonies and made the English Colonies upset. This later turned into a big argument between the colonies, but later turned out okay.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
The declaratory act was also passed off by the British Parliament. Parliament was happy to pass it off. The colonists started this to get a better tax deal. The citizens were trying to make a point that America's taxes are just like Great Britain's. The colonists were unhappy because of their horrible taxes and they started this act. The name that they gave it was the Declaratory act, or also known as the new Stamp Act, because they were the same just at different times and different names.
