    In 1830, JQA was elected to represent the Plymouth district of Massachusetts. JQA is remembered for his fight against the "gag rule," which tabled petitions against slavery. JQA served as a representative in Congress until he died.

    JQA, a true American hero, had a stroke on the floor of the House of Representatives. He died two days later in the Speaker's Room. He fought until the very end for what he believed in. "The nation mourned as it had not since the deaths of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin." (Unger, page 310).

    Seneca Falls Convention was the first women's rights convention in American history. Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were the organizers of the convention, which gathered almost 200 women. The Seneca Falls Convention is considered to be the birth of the Feminist Movement.
