    The Life of Elizabeth Lichtsinn

  • Diagnosed With Type One Diabetes

Out of my whole life, this is the day that has impacted me the greatest. I was 4 years old and and I was told that one of my organs had stopped working, and that I would never be cured. My whole life has been altered by this. It forced me to mature at a very young age. My disease has made me miss a lot of school. It even caused me to miss 59 days in 5th grade and I was in and out of the hospital. I have been praying for a cure since my diagnosis date, but I know that there is little chance.
  • Elizabeth Sees 'Wicked'

The first "real" musical I saw was 'Wicked'. I had always loved music but seeing it had given me an appreciation for the theatre that I hadn't before. This has allowed em to emerge myself in different story lines and to be inspired on many different levels.
  • Granny Cole Passes Away

I was very close to my great Granny Cole, and we were always together. On August 11th, 2014, she passed away. This had impacted me very heavily because my grandparents that are living in Fort Wayne don't really have much to do with me. So when she passed, my only involved grandparent was all the way in Michigan.
  • Zayn Leaves One Direction

Before their hiatus, I was the biggest One Direction fan. I've seen them in concert twice, and had bought all of their music. It seems silly looking back now, but I remember on March 25th, Zayn announced he was leaving One Direction and I had just sat there and cried. I was so sad for weeks after, but looking back on it, I am not sure why!
  • First Day Of Public School

My whole life, I have attended a private school. I had gone to a Lutheran school my whole life, until my 8th grade year when I started to realize some flaws in the Lutheran religion. I started my 8th grade year at Miami Middle School and absolutely loved it. It was the first time I was able to really interact and get to know people of different backgrounds and cultures on a personal level.
  • First Day Of High School

I started my freshman year a week after school started. My mom did not want me to go to Wayne so we had actually gotten an apartment out southwest so that we could build a house and I could attend Homestead. A week later, NTA called and said that they had an opening, so we had to quickly find a house to rent so we could build our own. We had found one about one mile away.
  • 2nd Place At Debate Tournament

Last year, was the first time that I placed in a debate tournament. It was also the first time that our team placed at all. Since then, I place at many many tournaments.
  • Elizabeth Sees 'The Book of Mormon'

I went to go see 'The Book of Mormon' with Mason and Caitlyn. Mason and I have been going to musicals for some time because we both love them. But, it was the first time I took Caitlyn to something that I'm passionate about and that made us even closer of friends.
  • Elizabeth Starts Conversion to Judaism

This year, I have found myself really thinking about who I am and what I believe in. My grammy actually converted to Judaism but does not really follow the laws. I started reading the Torah and talking with Rabbis and I immediately knew that this is what I believe in, this is who I am supposed to be. I have been attending Temple and following the laws of Judaism. You won't believe how hard it is to find a breakfast at a restaurant without pork!
  • Elizabeth Leaves For Poland

This summer I took part in a student exchange to Poland. I had no clue the impact it would have on me. It gave me new perspectives and allowed me to experience culture from a different place. I met some amazing friends who are now family to me. I plan on going back for a month this summer and living with my "Polish family".
  • Elizabeth Gets Her Drivers License

When I got my license, I had my first feeling of real freedom and responsibility. I have had freedom and responsibility my whole life, but not to this extent.
