The characters are introduced as Ronnie ( short of Veronica) Miller, Will, hes a volleyball player, Jonah is her younger brother. Steve is her dad. She just graduated high school and shes been in trouble since her father left their family. She gave up playing piano even though she was amazing, that's the last thing her and her father shared. Her mom is making her and her younger brother Jonah spend the whole summer with their dad that they haven't seen in 3 years. -

after arriving, Ronnie didn't want to stay with her family so she went to the festival on the beach. She bump into a volleyball player named Will and she spilled her drink all over her shirt. then later on that night she meet Blaze and her boyfriend Marcus. The next morning she wakes up to raccoons on the beach and eating turtle shells. she calls the aquarium and she meets up with Will again. -

Will decides to sleep outside with Ronnie to make sure the raccoons don't get into the nest. they started to talk and get to know each other. for that day Will takes Ronnie on a date to the aquarium and then after they got to the beach for Wills volleyball tournament, and Wills ex tells Ronnie that she just another girl in the collection of girls hes dated. she gets angry and they starting fighting and will says he loves her. -

Scott, is Will's friend and partner in volleyball, and he doesn't approve of the relationship with Ronnie because its distracting Will from playing well. Will goes to dinner with Ronnie and her dad and brother, Ronnie finds out that Wills family is rich when she meets his family. Will invites Ronnie as his date to his sisters wedding. Her brother gives Ronnie money to buy a dress so she can accompany Will to the wedding. Marcus and Will get into a fist fight at the wedding over blaze. -

Will's parents find out that Ronnie isn't god enough for him. blaze catches on fire and Will left to go save her and he gets into another fist fight with with Marcus, but this time it was over Ronnie. the turtles eggs hatched, Will, Ronnie, Jonah, Steve were helping the turtles and Steve had to go get another flashlight and he walked back to the house and started coughing up blood. He goes to the ER and the kids find out that he has cancer. so Ronnie starts playing the piano again for her dad. -

Ronnie decides to stay wit her dad after summer ends and Jonah leaves so she can take care of him in his last few months. Ronnie finds out that Scott burned down the church and everyone is blaming it on her dad. Ronnie gets into a fight with Will and he goes off to college. Ronnie's dads dies and she goes to Julliard for playing the piano. Will shows up and tells her he's transferring to a college nearby so they can still be together
